SAWAED Charity in the hearth of Morocco Earthquake - September 2023
Disaster description :
On 8 September 2023 at 22.11 UTC powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.8 struck Morocco at 18.5 km depth. The epicentre was in the High Atlas Mountains, 71km (44 miles) south-west of Marrakesh, with a population of 840,000 inhabitants is most impacted city. According to media, several houses have collapsed and other building were reported with structural damage.
SAWAED charity distributed food baskets in one of the damaged villages near the epicentral area on the next day of the earthquake (see video below), then our team started to visite the surounding impacted villages to know the vital need in that time, the work then began to raise funds to confront this disaster and give urgent help to the villages that were impacted with this disaster.
SAWAED Charity held a particular attention the the childrens whom were victims of this disaster, and organized an event to distribute scholar backpacks and other school materials, knowing that they are the weakest part of the population, and helping them continue education even with the current situation.
